How to pre-seasoned stainless steel pot
A new stainless steel pot needs to be pre-seasoned. Because of the following reasons:
1. During the manufacturing process of stainless steel pots, industrial oil will be used on the surface. Some of these industrial oils will penetrate into the pot. It is not safe to use it directly or after cleaning it with detergent;
Secondly, stainless steel pots, especially woks, will inevitably stick to the pot during use. If you skip the step of pre-seasoned the pot, it will inevitably become sticky with more use, and the pot will not grow well.
The method of pre-seasoned a stainless steel pot is crucial to the pot’s service life and cooking results. The following are the methods for pre-seasoned a stainless steel pot and key points for maintaining the pot:
Preparation: After you get your new stainless steel pot, prepare the white vinegar. White vinegar is an affordable cleaner that deodorizes, sterilizes, and removes scale.
Add water and white vinegar: Place the stainless steel pot on the stove, add water until it is about 80% full, and then pour in a bag of white vinegar. At this point the water and white vinegar mixture in the pot is ready.
Boil water: Turn on the heat and bring the water in the pot to a boil. White vinegar removes odors, sterilizes and cleans during the boiling process.
Turn off the heat: Once the water boils, turn off the heat. At this time, the vinegar water in the pot has completed the cleaning work.
Scrub the pot body: Use chopsticks with a soft cloth to scrub the inner and outer surfaces of the pot twice. This step can effectively remove industrial oil and impurities from the pot.
To clean the pot: Pour off the vinegar water and rinse the pot thoroughly with warm water. Do not use cold water to clean to prevent temperature differences from adversely affecting the material of the pot.
Heat and wipe: Place the pot over the heat and heat to high. Then use a soft cloth to wipe the inside and outside of the pot clean, making sure the pot is completely dry.
Heat oil in a pot: Cut some fat meat, put it in the pot, and heat it over medium-low heat. As the fat seeps out, use a spatula to pour the hot oil all over the inside of the pot, continue for three to four minutes and then turn off the heat. This process helps the oil penetrate into the pores of the pot to achieve the pot’s maintenance effect.
Cool completely: After the pot has cooled completely, wash it again with warm water and make sure the surface of the pot is smooth.
Regular maintenance: In daily use, it is recommended to use oil for maintenance every one month. You can choose to use fat or suet to keep the pot in good condition.
By following the above steps, you can ensure that your stainless steel pot is properly handled and maintained, extending the pot’s service life and ensuring healthy food cooking.
